TITLE: BROADCAST MANAGER
TYPE OF POSITION: Full Time

UNIT OVERVIEW: The ITVS Broadcast and Distribution Unit secures the best possible distribution for ITVS content on broadcast television (public and cable) and through multi-platform distribution. The Broadcast and Distribution Unit works with the nation's public television stations and cable channels to maximize the value, raise the visibility, and extend the national reach and impact of ITVS programming. The Unit provides services to all ITVS funded and acquired programs and communicates all its activities to the producers and key stakeholders. This Unit develops institutional relationships with key stakeholders, including local public television stations, independent producers, PBS and cable channels that support ITVS content on-air and rely on resources and information from ITVS for local outreach, marketing, PR and online services.

POSITION OVERVIEW: Working under the supervision of the Director of Broadcast and Distribution, the Broadcast Manager is responsible for developing integrated station marketing campaigns, events, and communications with public television station programming professionals for ITVS funded national TV series and programs. Responsibilities include pitching all ITVS national productions including the Independent Lens and Global Voices series on PBS and ITVS programs offered by other public television distributors; culling data and generating carriage reports for ITVS's national productions; coordinating and producing targeted events for station programmers; and working closely with other ITVS departments to implement campaigns and station initiatives. Specific functions of the Broadcast Manager include: documentation and analysis of ITVS broadcast series' carriage; research PTV and commercial broadcast trends; communication with PBS and other distribution outlets, independent producers and PTV programmers; and the production and management of PTV industry events relating to ITVS programs and institutional strategies. The Broadcast Manager supervises the Station Relations Assistant on all data management of carriage and broadcast rights.

REQUIREMENTS OVERVIEW: Excellent organizational and communications skills are required, as is the ability to prioritize and juggle many tasks, often under a deadline, while remaining detail-oriented. The ability to work in a collaborative manner with an aptitude for cultivating positive relationships is essential, as are maturity, poise and self-direction in handling responsibilities. Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Filemaker, Excel and excellent writing skills required. Internet research, spelling and proof-reading experience and strategic marketing is essential.

TITLE: PARALEGAL/ASSISTANT, BUSINESS AFFAIRS

REPORTS TO: Senior Contracts Manager

RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Revise and draft program license agreements, contract amendments, third party element licenses (e.g. stock footage, music, stills) and personal and location releases for ITVS programming.
  • Analyze ITVS production, acquisition and distribution agreements and related clearances and releases in order to track and manage ITVS’s rights in programs and underlying elements.
  • Perform legal research on copyright, trademark, fair use and other intellectual property law matters.
  • Assist Senior Vice President & CFO, Business Department and Contracts Managers with negotiation and drafting of agreements for the production, acquisition and distribution of programming.
  • Draft correspondence regarding contract compliance.
  • Review ancillary rights distribution agreements to ensure compliance with ITVS guidelines.
  • Track status of all Business Affairs projects and agreements.
  • Oversee generation and mailing of execution copies of contracts and other Business Affairs department correspondence and perform general administrative tasks for Senior Vice President & CFO, Business Department and Contracts Managers.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
REQUIREMENTS:
  • Bachelor’s degree in related field, paralegal certificate or equivalent experience required
  • Experience performing legal research is required
  • Minimum of two years of experience negotiating and drafting program license agreements, stock footage, music, location and appearance releases and talent and related agreements, preferably in the public television, cable or entertainment industry
  • Strong knowledge of program acquisition, licensing, development, co-production and distribution deals
  • Candidate must be extremely detail oriented, highly organized, able to work under tight timelines, flexible, and able to adapt to new and changing responsibilities
  • Must be self-motivated with demonstrated ability to take initiative, make firm decisions, and offer a high level of customer service
  • Candidate must be able to handle a high volume of multiple projects simultaneously while adhering to strict deadlines
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills required
  • Experience with Microsoft Word, Excel, Filemaker and other software applications and rights databases desirable

TITLE: EXECUTIVE ASSISTANT TO THE PRESIDENT/CEO

This position provides direct support to a busy President/CEO of a dynamic and robust media arts organization. The work environment is casual, but the demands of the job are fast- paced and multi-faceted. The ideal candidate has a great sense of humor, outstanding interpersonal and communication skills, is highly organized, and has effective strategies to track and prioritize multiple deadlines. He/she must be able to anticipate problems and act with good judgment, discretion and integrity. In addition to helping the President manage the organization, the assistant serves as liaison to our board of directors. Job duties include:

ASSISTING THE PRESIDENT:

  • Managing a busy executive calendar, including coordinating a full schedule of meetings, conference calls, and business appointments as well as keeping the President well-informed of important upcoming dates and deadlines.
  • Providing excellent customer service on the President's behalf to senior management, administrative staff members, executive-level media partners and funders, and key external stakeholders.
  • Organizing domestic travel itineraries, including arranging point-to-point transportation, booking hotel accommodations, and researching directions as needed.
  • Providing complex administrative support and assisting with a wide range of special projects, including copyediting and proofreading all documents and correspondence, disseminating the annual staff survey, and supporting outside consultants as required.
  • Tracking grant reports and proposals, travel budgets, institutional events and deadlines, and maintaining additional calendars as requested.
  • Creating, organizing, and maintaining electronic and hard copy files.
  • Providing logistical support, coordinating catering, and set-up/clean up for the President's meetings.
ITVS BOARD LIAISON:
  • Planning/Coordinating ITVS board meetings (three per year), including travel, hotel, and expense reimbursements.
  • Gathering data and reports, tracking progress, assembling and copyediting materials for board books required for each meeting.
  • Planning/coordinating board committee conference calls and taking notes as needed.
  • Serving as the point person for all board inquiries and requests.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
  • College degree
  • Stable work history with five years of administrative support experience
  • Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Outlook, Word, and Excel. (Experience with PowerPoint and File Maker Pro highly desirable)
  • Self-starter with the ability to learn new concepts quickly
  • Professional, collegial, and mature work ethic
  • Customer service experience highly desirable
