Ari Folman, Director Ari Folman’s graduate film Comfortably Numb, produced for Tel Aviv University’s Department of Film and Television, documented his friends’ experiences of the 1991 attack on Tel Aviv by Saddam Hussein. The film won the Israel Film Academy Award at the Jerusalem Festival and was screened at dozens of festivals worldwide. In 1996, he wrote and directed his first feature film, Saint Clara, based on a story written by Czech playwright Pavel Kohout. The film won the People’s Choice Award at the 1996 Berlin Festival, six Israel Academy Awards, including awards for Best Director and Best Movie, and was screened in 40 theaters throughout the U.S. Other projects include a five-episode documentary series on love and screenplays for the TV series Saturdays and Holidays, Chapter of the Week and In Therapy.
