American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP)
The American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP) is an organization of 60,000 pediatricians committed to the attainment of optimal physical, mental and social health and well being for all infants, children, adolescents and young adults. The AAP also houses the National Center of Medical Home Initiatives for Children with Special Needs. In a medical home, a pediatric clinician works in partnership with the family and patient to assure that the medical and non-medical needs of the patient are met. American Cancer Society
The American Cancer Society is a nationwide community-based voluntary health organization dedicated to eliminating cancer as a major health problem by preventing cancer, saving lives and diminishing suffering from cancer through research, education, advocacy and service. With more than two million volunteers nationwide, the American Cancer Society is one of the oldest and largest voluntary health agencies in the United States, consisting of a national society with chartered divisions throughout the country and more than 3,400 local units. Association of Oncology Social Work (AOSW)
Oncology social workers provide a wide range of services directly to persons with cancer and their families including counseling, support, education, and resource identification. They connect persons diagnosed with cancer and their families, with essential community, state, national and international resources. AOSW represents more than 900 social workers worldwide practicing in hospitals, outpatient clinics, home care and hospice agencies, community wellness programs, patient advocacy organizations and other settings as part of an oncology team. As advocates, AOSW and its members are dedicated to increasing awareness about the social, emotional, educational and spiritual needs of cancer patients through conferences, research, writing, workshops and lectures. Association of Pediatric Oncology Nurses
The Association of Pediatric Oncology Nurses (APON) is the leading professional organization for registered nurses caring for children and adolescents with cancer and blood disorders and their families. Children's Cause for Cancer Advocacy
The Children's Cause for Cancer Advocacy (CCCA) is a non-profit organization that works as a national catalyst to stimulate drug discovery and development for childhood cancers, to expand resources for research and treatment and to address the needs and concerns of survivors. CureSearch
CureSearch represents the combined efforts of the Children’s Oncology Group (COG) and the National Childhood Cancer Foundation (NCCF), two organizations united by a common goal: reaching the day when every child with cancer can be guaranteed a cure. Each arm of CureSearch has vital responsibilities covering research, care, advocacy and fundraising. At more than 200 institutions worldwide, the COG network has transformed a once almost always fatal disease to one that is curable in 78 percent of patients today. CureSearch hosts a state-of-the-art website with up-to-date, comprehensive information about childhood cancer. CureSearch.org provides research data, customized information and support tailored to a child’s age, diagnosis, treatment options and treatment phase from the world’s most prestigious pediatric cancer experts. Gilda's Club Worldwide
Gilda's Club is a free cancer support community for men, women and children with any type of cancer, and their family and friends. Membership is offered, free of charge to people at any stage of their experience with cancer. Through participation in groups, lectures, workshops and social events members build social and emotional support and learn to live with cancer. Health Ministries Association
Health Ministries Association (HMA) is an interfaith membership organization, serving the people who serve the Faith Health Ministry Movement. The mission of HMA is to encourage, support and develop whole-person ministries leading to the integration of faith and health. HMA is dedicated to networking, educating, supporting and sharing a myriad of faith/health ministries. The organization believes in the future of paradigm shifts, creative collaboration and healthier communities, promoting whole-person health through faith groups in the communities they serve. Hope Street Kids
Hope Street Kids is a children’s initiative of the Cancer Research and Prevention Foundation. The program was founded by Randy Walker and Congresswoman Deborah Pryce, in memory of their nine-year-old daughter, Caroline. The mission of Hope Street Kids is to eliminate childhood cancer through cutting-edge research, advocacy and education. Hope Street Kids is committed to funding both public and private research efforts through fundraising initiatives, and providing leadership in encouraging new and innovative research investigations. The Intercultural Cancer Council
The Intercultural Cancer Council (ICC) promotes policies, programs, partnerships and research to eliminate the unequal burden of cancer among racial and ethnic minorities and medically underserved populations in the United States and its associated territories. Baylor College of Medicine assumes fiscal and organizational management for the Intercultural Cancer Council and provides the Council with a national office and website. ICC hosts a Biennial Symposium that shines a spotlight on the issue of disproportionate cancer incidence, morbidity and mortality in minority and medically underserved populations in the United States and its associated territories. The Lance Armstrong Foundation*
The Lance Armstrong Foundation (LAF) believes that in the battle with cancer, unity is strength, knowledge is power and attitude is everything. From the moment of diagnosis, the Foundation provides the practical information and tools people living with cancer need to live strong. LIVESTRONG, the LAF’s online educational resource for cancer survivors, provides survivorship stories and topics on the physical, emotional and practical issues that may be part of dealing with cancer. The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society
The Leukemia and Lymphoma Society, headquartered in White Plains, New York, with 63 chapters in the United States and additional branches in Canada, is the world’s largest voluntary health organization dedicated to funding blood cancer research and providing education and patient services. The Society’s mission is to cure leukemia, lymphoma, Hodgkin’s disease and myeloma, and to improve the quality of life of patients and their families. National Association of Social Workers (NASW)
The National Association of Social Workers is the largest membership organization of professional social workers in the world with 153,000 members. Its mission is to promote, develop and protect the practice of social work, while enhancing the well-being of individuals, families and communities through its policy work and advocacy. NASW has chapters in all 50 states, as well as in Guam, Puerto Rico, the Virgin Islands and an international chapter. NASW chapters provide a variety of professional products and services including continuing education programs, annual conferences, newsletters, Websites, and other forums for exchange of information. National Black Nurses Association, Inc.
The National Black Nurses Association (NBNA) represents approximately 150,000 African Americans nurses from the U.S., the Eastern Caribbean and Africa, with 76 chapters nationwide. NBNA’s mission is to provide a forum for collective action by African American nurses to investigate, define and determine what the health care needs of African Americans are and to implement change to make available to African Americans and other minorities health care commensurate with that of the larger society.

National Hospice and Palliative Care Organization
The National Hospice and Palliative Care Organization (NHPCO) is the largest nonprofit membership organization representing hospice and palliative care programs and professionals in the United States. NHPCO is committed to improving end of life care and expanding access to hospice care with the goal of profoundly enhancing quality of life for people dying in America and their loved ones. The NHPCO advocates for the terminally ill and their families. It also develops public and professional educational programs and materials to enhance understanding and availability of hospice and palliative care, convenes frequent meetings and symposia on emerging issues, provides technical informational resources to its membership, conducts research, monitors Congressional and regulatory activities; and works closely with other organizations that share an interest in end of life care. The Oncology Nursing Society (ONS) is a professional organization of more than 32,000 registered nurses and other healthcare providers whose mission is to promote excellence in oncology nursing and quality cancer care. The Society, representing a diverse group of professionals, is committed to its core values of integrity, innovation, stewardship, advocacy, excellence and inclusiveness. Padres Contra El Cáncer
Padres Contra El Cáncer is a non-profit organization committed to improving the quality of life for Latino children with cancer and their families. Founded in 1985, Padres has assisted more than 3,200 families and 16,000 extended family members residing in Southern California through support services which include case management, family educational programs, crisis intervention, support groups economic assistance and quality of life events. Padres programs are designed to be culturally-relevant, family-centered and community-based. Youth Service America (YSA) is a resource center that partners with thousands of organizations committed to increasing the quality and quantity of volunteer opportunities for young people, ages five to 25, to serve locally, nationally and globally. Founded in 1986, YSA’s mission is to expand the impact of the youth service movement with communities, schools, corporations and governments. YSA envisions a global culture of engaged youth who are committed to a lifetime of service, learning, leadership and achievement.

Centers for Disease Control and Prevention*
Cancer Prevention and Control

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) is a leader in nationwide cancer prevention and control, working with national organizations, state, territorial and tribal health agencies and other key groups to develop, implement and promote effective cancer prevention. To build coordinated and focused cancer control efforts, CDC provides support to 49 states, the District of Columbia and five tribes and tribal organizations, and six U.S. Associated Pacific Islands/territories to develop and implement cancer control plans. Through collaboration with the Lance Armstrong Foundation and nearly 100 experts in cancer survivorship and public health, a National Action Plan for Cancer Survivorship was developed. The plan charts a course for how the public health community can more effectively and comprehensively address cancer survivorship and focus on improving the quality of life for survivors. The National Cancer Institute
The National Cancer Institute (NCI) is a component of the National Institutes of Health (NIH). NCI coordinates the National Cancer Program, which conducts and supports research, training, health information dissemination, and other programs with respect to the cause, diagnosis, prevention and treatment of cancer, rehabilitation from cancer, and the continuing care of cancer patients and the families of cancer patients. NCI’s Cancer Information Service (CIS), the Center to Reduce Cancer Health Disparities, and the Office of Survivorship are helping to advise the A LION IN THE HOUSE outreach campaign.
