GREAT WALL ACROSS THE YANGTZE

In the heart of China, the largest peacetime evacuation in history is underway. Two million people are being forced to abandon their homes, land, ancient burial grounds and temples to facilitate the construction of the massive Three Gorges Dam on the Yangtze River. While the dam promises economic growth, it also poses risks. If it collapses, 10 million people could die. GREAT WALL ACROSS THE YANGTZE captures this extraordinary sacrifice in the name of modernization.
Premiere: Global Voices, June 29, 2008 at 10 PM
"After watching this "hidden gem" ...I feel different about the Three Gorges Dam and am racking my head as to what can be done, even in a small way."
-
"Before seeing this film, the Yangtze was just another river to me. Through Perry's inspiring imagery, both of the landscape and the people of this area, I now feel some attachment, and with that some responsibility for what is happening there."
