On vacation in San Jose, Costa RIca, I saw Dominga's story on TV. For a U.S. citizen, there are only two words: Ronald Reagan. HE should be exhumed, and buried in Guatemala. It was HIS permission that told Rios Montt to go ahead with the massacres. Why is our military never sent to STOP these crimes? Because it is the politics of rich against poor and against non-whites.. Under REAGAN, 500 Mayan villages that had survived the Conquistadores were wiped out. WIth his full knowledge and approval. WHO is the greater monster? Since 1982, when I learned of the massacres, I have paid no taxes to the U.S. Government. I did not buy the bullets that killed these families, and I worked to persuade other norteamericanos to stop supporting, and to resist these crimes. Even Clinton did not go directly to Guatemala and demand justice. It can never be "my" government until this is done. www.nwtrcc.org

(continuacion) It is sad that we still have a government like Reagan's, which we must resist, and watch closely, or it will support more massacres like Guatemala's. I believe that Dominga's work (and Blane's, as the sympathetic man and father I saw him to be) is to use their story to PROTECT Guatemala and other innocents from these forces of evil. I saw the citizens of Algona respond. Others will too, in time. This is their best chance to heal, going forward, and to show their children their courage, and their legacy. It looks to me like this is what they are doing. Yes, you get to have a good life, a family life. BUT, we are also thrown into the political work by the terrible demands around us. Balance. We can do no more than our best, and God will recognize us for trying. We might even win...

(3rd thought) Walking around in San Jose, I see the people who would never harm anyone, wanting just to be left alone, to work and raise their families. Guatemala, all over the world, the same. I am sorry if what I wrote sounded like Dominga's personal loss and tragedy was not complete in itself. So personal, something I will never know. (I worked with a young Cambodian woman, who fled the Khmer Rouge at the same age as Dominga. She had never told anyone, either, until one day at our office we all stayed to listen and encourage her to tell it all. None of us moved, for over an hour.) What I wanted to say, is that, with time, Dominga will find herself at the point position of the oldest war on earth -- against violence and injustice. Our battles are real, and our weapons must be pure love and nonviolence. Otherwise, we lose before we begin. But we can and will win. I know it is so unfair, that one idiot with a machine gun can stop the lives of hundreds, hundreds of the best and finest people. I feel hopeless too, sometimes. I will buy this film when it is available and show it to as many as I can, with my interpretation to emphasize NOT supporting a U.S. government that encourages these massacres.

Rebeca Guatemala

Hi Denese/Dominga Last night I watched your story on danish television and I was truely moved. I need to write to let you know that you're doing the right thing. A wise woman once told me that one needs air to pass it on, I hope that makes sense in english translation. An awful and inhuman tragedy has happened to you and your people. You have a right to be angry and hurt but I hope and think that one day you'll be able to put this behind you and move on. Don't let those horrible people have the power to hurt you anymore. By reading this I hope that you know that you've told the story to the world and that you have support eventhough we live so far apart. We're all children of this world and nobody deserves to be treated like this. Fight for justice and take care of yourself. You deserve a good life. Sincerely Marlene Jensen, Denmark

MUCHAS PERSONAS SE PREGUNTARAN; øQUE HACEMOS PARA QUE EL GENOCIDIO Y LAS MASACRES NO VUELVAN A OCURRIR EN EL FUTURO?

DEAR DOMINGA: I have no words to describe all the pain your testimony caused us unfortunatelly there are thousands of storys like yours, i think Rios (river of blood)Mont it's not the only one to blame,'cause Guatemala like many other countries it's controlled and exploited by an economical and political elite known as the powerful CACIF as well as the Reagan's external politics. The north american governement it's so guilty as Rios Mont, i hope the united states human rights organizations can do something about this, spetially now when Berger is trying to get us citizens' money to modernize the Guatemalan army, please US CITIZENS HELP US TO STOP WASTING MILLIONS OF DOLLARS IN THE INSTITUTION OF DEATH LIKE THE GUATEMALAN ARMY!!!!!!!!
