Independent Lens Nominated for Best Curated Series by the International Documentary Association

(San Francisco, CA) October 16, 2017— Independent Lens has received a nomination for the 2017 Best Curated Series from the International Documentary Association (IDA), it was announced today. Independent Lens has won the award in three previous years — 2013, 2014, and 2015. The 33rd Annual IDA Documentary Awards will take place on Saturday, December 9, 2017, at the Paramount Theatre in Los Angeles.

“We are very proud to be recognized by the IDA with our seventh consecutive nomination,” said Lois Vossen, Independent Lens Executive Producer. “As Independent Lens has evolved into a multi-platform series it’s gratifying that our long-form documentaries continue to serve all audiences on public media. Season 16 premieres Monday, November 6 with Chasing Trane and our films continue to educate, inform and engage audiences about the most vital issues of our time through these high caliber documentaries.”

Independent Lens was recognized earlier in October with four 2017 News & Documentary Emmy® Awards: The Armor of Light for Outstanding Social Issue Documentary; In Football We Trust for Outstanding Business and Economic Documentary; (T)ERROR for Outstanding Investigative Documentary; and Best of Enemies for Outstanding Historical Documentary.
