Niños De La Memoria Premieres on World Channel’s Global Voices Sunday, June 30, 2013, at 10pm

Niños De La Memoria (Children of Memory), about the search for children who disappeared during the Salvadoran civil war, will be broadcast on Global Voices, Sunday June 30, 2013, at 10:00pm. 

Niños De La Memoria tells the story of the search for children, now adults, who disappeared during the Salvadoran civil war, survivors of massacres carried out by U.S.-trained Salvadoran Army battalions. Many were “sold” into adoption in the U.S. and Europe. Margarita Zamora, one of three protagonists in the film, is an investigator for a Salvadoran human rights organization, who searches for disappeared children - including her own four siblings. Niños De La Memoria weaves three separate yet intertwined journeys in the search for family, identity and justice in El Salvador, and asks the larger question: How can a post-war society right the wrongs of the past? 

The film, produced in association with Independent Television Service (ITVS), Latino Public Broadcasting and Sundance Institute Documentary Film Program, among others, received an Award of Merit in Film from the Latin American Studies Association (LASA). It premiered in Festival AMBULANTE – El Salvador in May 2012 and has screened in a number of film festivals and colleges and universities since then.
