Free Parking & Free Movie!

Posted on September 16, 2010
The launch of this year’s season of Independent Lens, hosted by America Ferrera, kicks off this Friday night, September 17th at 7 PM in San Francisco. Don’t have a ticket? Perfect. It’s free! Just show up to the parking lot across from The Good Hotel at 7th and Minna Street. In conjunction with Parking Day — an annual global event where citizens, artists, and activists transform metered parking spaces into temporary public spaces  — ITVS will transform The Good Hotel’s parking lot into an outdoor movie theater for one night and preview Independent Lens’ season opener, The Parking Lot Movie, ahead of its October 19th broadcast premiere. Bring friends, a blanket, and enjoy the premiere of The Parking Lot Movie, a hilarious portrait of one small parking lot in a college town and the asphalt philosophers who work there. Scrutinizing cars, capitalism, anger, justice, class struggle, and entitlement — these over-educated parking lot patrons remind us of the plight of the service-sector worker. Come ring in the season premiere of the Emmy Award-winning PBS series Independent Lens and watch The Parking Lot Movie, for free, this Friday in San Francisco. The Parking Lot Movie’s official television premiere airs Tuesday, October 19th at 10:00 PM (check local listings.) For more information on this event, and others like it, join Independent Lens on Facebook. See you Friday!
