New Database Matches Indie Filmmakers with Funders
For Press Inquiries:
Finding funding for projects is an ongoing challenge for independent filmmakers. Similarly, funders may also have a difficult time finding the right media projects that match their interests and initiatives. Grantmakers in Film + Electronic Media (GFEM) helps play matchmaker with a new online tool that pairs independents with funders based on common goals. How does it work? Filmmakers post information about their projects to GFEM’s online media database, including video clips, treatments and distribution and promotional strategies. Project Managers tag their projects a number of different ways –– including topic, project status and identity niche. The database automatically indexes new projects, which can be searched and browsed for easy access. Funders are automatically notified if new projects match their interests. A number of filmmakers are already taking advantage of this service, including ITVS funded films such as ASK NOT, WHO KILLED CHEA VICHEA?, MY SUMMER IN TEHRAN and COOKED.
