Afghan Troop Challenges Caught on Film

Camp Victory, Afghanistan — a new documentary airing on Public Television this August — reveals the struggles behind U.S. attempts to rebuild the Afghan National Army.

The film, by Carol Dysinger, is a sobering reminder of the limited effect money (the U.S. has poured billions in aid to Afghanistan) and diplomacy can play on a deeply divided nation.

Using nearly 300 hours of footage shot between 2005 and 2008, Dysinger highlights the human difficulties involved in cultivating an army tasked with fighting an elusive enemy.
