For Press Inquiries:

Producing Partners are local community organizations that co-present Community Cinema screenings across the country. On December 3rd, Producing Partner Milwaukee Public Television (MPTV), screened the Independent Lens film YOUNG@HEART at Discovery World's Innovation TheaterThe film documents the true story of the Young@Heart senior citizens chorus, whose average age is 81. Their inspiring story celebrates the unbreakable bonds of friendship and the life-affirming power of music. Darlyne Haertlein of MPTV gives her take on the event below:

Despite snow advisories, 50 patrons came and enjoyed Milwaukee Public Television's Community Cinema screening of YOUNG@HEART. The audience had a very warm response to the film which elicited both laughter and tears. A panel discussion immediately followed the screening and featured Anne Basting, director of the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee's Center on Age & Community, Shirley Browne, co-captain of Seniorgee!, the Milwaukee Bucks all senior dance team, and Sean Callahan, president of the Manor Park Foundation, dedicated to providing healthcare solutions for Milwaukee seniors. The three-member panel shared insights about the importance for seniors to stay active and connected .

Following the discussion,  six dancers from the Seniorgee! dance team performed, proving that "creative aging" makes the journey worthwhile.
