Marriage Equality: A Special ITVS Social Screening of Thomas Allen Harris’s Short Documentary

For Press Inquiries:

ITVS presents an online social screening of Marriage Equality: Byron Rushing and the Fight for Fairness on Tuesday, June 12th at 1PM PT / 4PM ET. The event will take place here.

When President Obama stated his support for gay marriage a few weeks ago, the headlines were splashed across news outlets around the the world. For Pride Month, the National Black Programming Consortium launched a film made by Thomas Allen Harris – the first film to illuminate the role of African Americans in securing same-sex marriage as a Civil Right!

Join us for a social screening of the film, Marriage Equality: Byron Rushing and the Fight for Fairness, with filmmaker Thomas Allen Harris, who will be taking part in the screening to talk about the film and take your questions live. Participants can join for free by signing in with Facebook or directly on the site, interacting with other viewers and panelists in real-time, while watching the film. Viewers can comment, ask questions, take polls, and even express their feelings about what they’re watching through a variety of tools on the site. This is an entirely new way of experiencing documentary films and it is inherently social.
