San Francisco Gets a Peek at Academy Award-Nominated Waste Land

For Press Inquiries:

Filmmaker Lucy Walker attended a screening in SF on Wednesday

Lucy Walker’s Oscar-nominated doc Waste Land will have its broadcast premiere April 19 on Independent Lens on PBS, but San Francisco got a sneak peak this week in an exclusive screening and reception.

ITVS co-hosted a screening of Waste Land this past Wednesday as the film and its director Lucy Walker gear up for this year’s Academy Awards. San Francisco’s Landmark Embarcadero Theatre was operating at full capacity as Independent Lens series producer Lois Vossen introduced the film.

After the screening, Lucy participated in a Q&A led by The San Francisco Film Society’s Steve Jenkins. The director has been on a whirlwind Oscar tour since the nominations were announced and the pace will only quicken from now until the ceremony on Sunday, February 27.

Keep an eye on Waste Land along with rest of our stellar lineup each Tuesday night on Independent Lens.
