The Attack on Our Democracy
For Press Inquiries:
As an organization that exists to strengthen our democracy, ITVS condemns the January 6 assault on the U.S. Capitol and all that it exemplifies. Under the rule of law, each person involved in encouraging or committing this violent attack must answer for the loss of life and trauma inflicted not only on the survivors but on all of us who watched in horror from afar.
We stand with everyone working to ensure a peaceful transition to the Biden-Harris Administration and to promote an end to the racial inequities in our justice system. Diverse independent filmmakers in every corner of the country face persistent threats to their lives and livelihoods as they bring to light the realities of America in 2021.
ITVS will bring these realities to audiences and communities through our partnership with these diverse filmmakers and public media, reaching millions of people. We will call on our political leaders and colleagues in commercial media to safeguard our elections and stop enabling structural racism and racial inequities. Together, ITVS and independent filmmakers will help forge a more just future and inclusive democracy.
