Unmistaken Child Premieres Tonight on Independent Lens on PBS

For Press Inquiries:

“To accept what happens in Unmistaken Child, you don’t have to believe in reincarnation. You do, however, have to believe that the people in this movie believe in it — that the idea of a soul transmigrating from a dying Buddhist lama to a newborn boy is part of the conceptual stew in which they and their society swim every day.” –The Boston Globe

After world-renowned Tibetan master Geshe Lama Konchog passed away in 2001 at age 84, the Dalai Lama charged the deceased monk’s devoted disciple, Tenzin Zopa, with the task of finding the reincarnation of this spiritual leader. Plagued by doubt, Tenzin knows his discovery is awaited by thousands of followers. Unmistaken Child is the story of his four-year search. The ensuing quest transforms Tenzin from a modest servant into a passionate spiritual leader, only to become a disciple again once the child is found.
