Update to ITVS Production Agreements

The Corporation for Public Broadcasting (CPB), ITVS’ principal funder, ceased operations in January 2026. We are deeply grateful for CPB’s decades of support for our organization and the independent filmmakers we serve.

With the finalization of the close-out provisions of our last CPB funding agreement, ITVS is now able to offer adjustments to certain terms in the ITVS Production Agreement. These adjustments have been applied universally to all producers who have an existing production agreement with ITVS.

In developing these adjustments, our focus has been on maximizing the benefit to our funded filmmakers while continuing to honor ITVS’ mission to serve public media and the American people

Specifically, the updates reduce certain long-term obligations previously associated with receiving ITVS production funding and enable filmmakers to retain a greater share of the income their films generate.

Global changes to all ITVS contracts include:

  • Revenue sharing threshold: ITVS’ share of revenue has been reduced by establishing a threshold that must be met before ITVS is entitled to participate.
  • Reduced ongoing obligations: ITVS’ revenue sharing period, reporting requirements, and records retention have all been reduced.
  • Insurance waiver: E&O and General Liability Insurance coverage naming CPB has been waived.

All ITVS-contracted filmmakers affected by these changes received direct communication with more specific details.
