The Film

Twenty-one years after a 1979 Chinese government move to limit population growth, China 21 tracks a generation of young adults from small families — one child in the city, two in the country. Filmed without customary government supervision, the film records rare and honest portraits of ordinary people whose spark, innovation, and curiosity is changing their country.
