    The Film

    An animated film interpretation of Carl Sandburg's poem "Arithmetic" using crayon drawings on glass. The poet himself delivers a joyful and musical reading, which playfully encourages children to think of math and numbers as part of their every day world. Sandburg reminds us all that though there may be right and wrong answers in arithmetic, such is not always the case in poetry or in life. Previously broadcast as part of the four-part ITVS series Animated Women.
