Top Dog Diaries explores why a writer writes and how a play gets made; it's an inside look at the creative process and at the challenges, opportunities, and personal milestones Suzan-Lori Parks encounters over two years that lead to the production of her 2002 Pulitzer prize-winning play. In behind-the-scenes footage of rehearsals and close-up coverage of Topdog/Underdog in performance, audiences experience theater in a way it isn't usually shown on television and see the triumphant Broadway debut of a writer who continues to take the daring chances that have always defined her work.
