America was built by immigrants seeking economic security or political freedom, many of them from Mexico and Latin American countries. Originally these Americans settled in the border states — but the heartland is the new destination, a place where opportunities flourish but understanding can sometimes be hard to come by. Una Vida Mejor highlights the lives of four Hispanic families as they struggle to maintain their faith and family traditions in the face of language barriers, prejudices, and the challenge of adapting to a new culture — all in search of a better life.
