Want to See Into the Future of Media and Technology? Now, There’s an App for That.
As a part of the ITVS FUTURESTATES series, today we’re happy to announce the release of The Vision Machine Interactive Digital Comic. This interactive digital comic for iPad 2 and 3 is being unveiled today at New York ComicCon, and is now available for free download in the App Store.
The app is based on the popular comic by filmmaker and comic book writer, Greg Pak (Planet Hulk, Robot Stories) which was funded by the Ford Foundation and released under Creative Commons in 2011. With ITVS support, Greg Pak and interactive animation company, Coco Studios collaborated to create a unique iPad experience which features full panel and 3D animation, a full soundtrack including voice performances from Phil LaMarr (Futurama, Justice League) and Eisa Davis (Passing Strange, Robot Stories), and a live Twitter feed that lets readers discuss the comic with other fans. It also features 50 minutes of video extras, including an in-depth “Making Of” and nine interviews with smart, funny people about the real-world ramifications of the story, including internet superstar musician Jonathan Coulton.
Vision Machine is part of ITVS’s Futurestates series, which this year expanded beyond the collection of 28 short films to include interactive media, such as the Vision Machine app and Lance Weiler’s Wish for the Future. You can learn more about Vision Machine at the FUTURESTATES website.
