In blunt, provocative, and often humorous language, young mothers between the ages of 13 and 17, from various social, racial, and economic backgrounds, tell their own stories of what it means to be a teenage mother. Often portrayed as "babies having babies," these young women sound off on everything from the loss of virginity to birthing and caring for an infant, family support, and the role (or lack thereof) that the men who fathered their children play in their lives. Throughout, the girls/women share their often heartbreaking dreams for the future.
