In Spice Road, a food and travel series exploring South Asian cuisine, culture, and community, host/co-creator Rupak Ginn travels across America to uncover the stories behind the food. Along the way, he meets the immigrants who have built restaurants as diverse and dynamic as South Asia itself. From street food to fine dining, Rupak samples dishes from across the subcontinent while engaging in heartfelt, often surprising conversations with chefs and celebrity friends.
In season two, Spice Road turns up the energy—spotlighting new voices and flavor combinations that are reshaping how South Asian cuisine is experienced in America. Rupak steps inside Indienne, Chicago’s first Michelin-starred Indian restaurant. He explores the rich, coconut-forward flavors of Kerala at Thattu and discovers Bangladeshi-inspired pizza at Amar Pizza in Michigan, which has been ranked among the best in the country by The New York Times. Rupak also dives into the rise of Indian-Mexican fusion at Saucy Chick, where cultures blend in ways that feel both surprising and crave-worthy. His guests for season two include Bilal Bhatti (aka GoldenGully), Omi Vaidya, Karan Soni, and Roshan Sethi.
Mixing personal storytelling with a fun and vibrant style, Spice Road, co-created by Oscar-nominated director Sami Khan and produced by Emmy-nominated filmmaker Vicky Lee, captures the joy of food as a connector across cultures, generations, and communities. It’s not just about what’s on the plate—it’s about the journeys behind it and the direction headed next.
