For the last decade, Shantha Bloemen has worked as a communications consultant for UNICEF, in its New York City headquarters as well as in Africa and South Asia. She worked in Zambia for six months in 1994, spent 1997 working as a press officer in Liberia, and worked in various capacities in other countries on the continent. For UNICEF, Bloemen has worked on a number of different video projects and has been actively involved in getting media attention to children’s rights and third world poverty. She has also worked as an independent producer, as well as in advertisting and in the news. Bloemen has a master’s degree in public policy and administration with a concentration in international media and communication from Columbia University’s School of International and Public Affairs.
