The Untitled Blind Baseball Project

This documentary chronicles a season for a group of athletes training to represent the U.S. in the second-ever Blind Baseball International Cup. The baseball players and their 83-year-old Hall of Famer coach have six months to train and select the nine people who will head to London to compete against teams that span the globe, from China to Italy and Pakistan to Cuba.

During the spring of 2024, men and women, ages 20 to 70, begin training in the Bronx. They are pageant queens, former sports broadcasters, college students, moms, and sons. Some have been blind their whole lives, while others have lost their vision more recently.

With limited resources, the team must prepare for London while overcoming challenges both on and off the field. Star player Edrisa Kabba cannot compete unless he secures his citizenship in time. Single mom Kiana Glanton navigates the complexities of dating a coach, while newly blind Zach Ship, the team’s potential secret weapon, works against the clock to recover from an injury.

While a sports documentary, the film also explores what it looks, sounds, and feels like to live without vision. Through visuals and audio design, the perspective will flip to that of a player at times, placing viewers out on the field and in the sensory worlds of the athletes.

As the team seeks to take home gold for their country, they discover competition is stiff and yet develop a greater bond along the way.
