Incubator Fund

Get early-stage program development funding and join an incubator to help you grow your skills within a community of documentarians.

What the Incubator Fund Supports

Development support for nonfiction features and web series, plus a three- to six-month incubator to advance your program materials.

What You Get With ITVS Funding
  • Up to $10k in funding for an early-stage nonfiction feature or web series
  • Potential for additional funding up to $30k
  • Three- to six-month incubator alongside other storytellers
  • Editorial feedback and guidance from ITVS
  • You maintain full editorial, creative, and financial control
  • You maintain your copyright

You’re eligible to apply if you are:

  • A citizen or legal resident of the U.S. or its external territories, age 18 or older
  • Submitting a project that is in development or pre-production (please review the FAQs for more information on what would be considered too far along)
  • The owner of the copyright of your project and maintain editorial control of the story 
  • An individual with previous film or television production credit in a principal role: director, producer (please review the FAQs for more information on eligible work)
  • Only submitting one application per round (note: an applicant can be named as a member of the key creative personnel on multiple projects)

 

You’re NOT eligible to apply if you are:

  • Currently enrolled as a student at a college or university
  • The current signatory of any ITVS production contracts who have not yet fully closed their previous contract
  • In consideration through another funding initiative with ITVS at the time of submission
  • A producer representing foreign-based production entities
  • An organization, including universities, foundations, and nonprofit organizations
  • A former employee who has worked for ITVS within the past 12 months
  • Employed full-time as a producer or director by a broadcast entity or film studio, including public access stations
  • Submitting a project or documentary previously distributed in a public forum, including theatrical, festival, educational, and community screenings
  • Contracted for premiere commercial distribution with the intended submission
